Welcome from the NRR Specialist Group

The IWA Nutrient Removal and Recovery (NRR) Specialist Group warmly invites you to participate in the 2026 conference, “From Curiosity-Driven Research to Disruptive Innovations.” Co-organized by TU Delft and Haskoning, the event continues our tradition of fostering a vibrant global community dedicated to advancing nutrient management in wastewater treatment systems.

We welcome researchers, practitioners, utility leaders, and technology developers to join us to share insights, challenge conventional thinking, and bridge the gap between scientific discovery and real-world application. As NRR evolves in response to increasing environmental pressures and new regulatory frameworks, such as the EU Urban Wastewater Directive 2024, this conference offers a platform to address emerging challenges and opportunities.

We also take this opportunity to honor the outstanding contributions of Professor Mark van Loosdrecht, whose work continues to shape the field and inspire future generations of water professionals worldwide.

We look forward to welcoming you to a dynamic and impactful dialogue in Delft!
